Following the announcement of the Sapphire Group’s exciting collaboration with acclaimed designer Sania Maskatiya in January, Sapphire Lawn by Sania Maskatiya’s debut collection of unstitched and stitched lawnwas launched in Karachiat an exclusive preview on the 1stof March 2013 at The Palm– Marquee.
Managed by Amina and Anisa Rashid Khan of RAK Associated with PR by Lotus, the exclusive preview was attended by designers, media personalities and socialites alike.
Priced at a range between PKR, 4450 – 5950 for an unstitched three piece outfit and from PKR 3,500 for stitched shirts, the brand introduced 16o riginal designs,individually titled: Baradari, Matyala, Baba Dhol, Shahi Sawari, Kingri, Bahaar, Empress, Matyala, Anarkali, Zafraan, Pani Ki Rani, Dilkash, Darbar, Uraan, Bahaar and Mohenjadaro .
The collection further featureda range of print and weaving techniques. Sumptuous unstitched combinations of lawn, jacquard, chiffon and dobby dominated the line with some outfits including custom-designed lace, both printed and woven, for border paneling.
“Each piece in the three-piece suit packet can be stitched however the purchaser pleases. In fact, one can even make three kameezes of different styles out of one suit packet. The choices and combinations are left to the buyer’s own imagination, a freedom which distinguishes this line from most others. Additionally, seven stitched kurtas, matching the unstitched fabrics in print but in alternate hues, provide a welcome alternative to those who would typically shy away from three-piece suits.” Said Nabeel Abdullah, director at Sapphire Textiles.
On the Sapphire Lawn by Sania Maskatiya collection, designer Sania Maskatiya said: “We have always aimed to use powerful and aesthetic prints. What Sapphire Lawn by Sania Maskatiya brings is the marriage between the quality fabric of Sapphire and our fashion house’saesthetic to introduce 16distinct designs, many of which draw upon our popular past collections and some of which are aesthetically new.”

Inspired by the ancient courts and the flora and fauna of their gardens.the design comprises of intricate floral and geometric patterns.

MATYALA:
Taking inspiration from the popular Matayala concentric pattern, the design explores the possibility of the pattern in jacquard and combines it with print and embroidered embellishments.

BABA DHOL:
Inspired by musical instruments, more specifically the Eastern “DHOL”, the design is an amalgamation of camouflaged musical elements in print and embroidery..

SHAHI SAWARI:
Taking inspiration from the elephants used for ancient rides, the design combines bright colours with floral and geometric elements.

KINGRI:
Named after the most apparent geometric element in the design, Kingri is a reflection of bringing high contrast colour and pattern together to create a unique visual story.

BAHAAR:
Taking inspiration from spring, the design is a window to the bright, fresh and soothing season with multiple floral elements.

EMPRESS:
Influenced by the colonial era in the sub-continent, the design combines the old with the new.

Feminine in all aspects, the design is a reflection of subtle beauty.

Inspired by birds and flight, the design combines woven and printed figurative designs with geometrical embroidery..
